The practice of the villagers' autonomy has not been developing smoothly for over 20years in China, and there appears a great many problems in practice that have not been resolved radically.Based on past relevant researches, this paper systematically examines the ideological sources of the villagers' autonomy, summarizes disputes over its reasons among scholars and argues that the initial reason of the practice of the current villager's autonomy should be to solve the problem of the state of power "vacuum" in rural areas. In the main part of this paper, the author chooses three major problems in the practice of the autonomy as analytical contents and holds that the problems of the villager's autonomy lie in two reasons: one is the disappearing of moral, economic and elite resources, the other is China's society of status without general contract spirit. In the last chapter, the author puts forward theoretical and practical resolutions before introducing a creative model to balance power.
