The Study Of CMM Applied In Small Type Software Enterprises

The development of software industry has important affection to the whole national economy. In our country, its development on a large scale is more lately than other countries. Most software enterprises in our country are small type, in other word, less than 50 personnel. However, there are many problems of production and management in these small type enterprises. These problems are represented by unstable quality, low produce efficiency and lose control of cost. This paper try to find a way the solution these problems by studying the application of CMM, Software Capability Maturity Model.This paper changed studying point of view from previous technical to management. Based on the analyses of constitution of CMM and research of small type software enterprises, this paper summed-up the characteristics of small type software enterprises and analyzed the applicable possibility of CMM used in small type software enterprises. Started from Quality-Cost theory, studied the CMM application model in small type enterprises from four facets of commonly development flow, organization structure, mapping of positions in small enterprises to roles in CMM, realization way of key process areas in CMM to small enterprises. In the design of model, this paper subdivided the small software enterprises into three kinds of Mini type, Extra-Small type, and Small type. By this way, it's not only avoided un-maneuverability in applying model (this is the problem in previousstudying), but more agreement with the developing of enterprises. At last, this paper give the guidance of how to apply this model, and give the maneuverability conclusion of this model by analyzing the status of one small enterprise which has applied this model in its' production.
