Studies On The Actualization Course Of Production Outsourcing Of Dong Fang Steamer Turbine Works

Outsourcing, newer practicing subject in China now, is one of the most hot spot discussions in international academic circles. Production outsourcing plays important role in focusing on the superiority resources of enterprise, reducing production costs, increasing production operation benefits,restructuring value chains and strengthening core competitiveness. This has been intensively identified and improved in practices.As one of the three biggest steamer turbine manufacturers in China and a typical representative of state-owned equipment manufacturing enterprises, Dong Fang Steamer Turbine Works (DFSTW) has greatly benefited from undertaking international sub-contracts and trying to put production outsourcing into practices. Now outsourcing is not only an academic notion but also an important competition strategy. To many manufacturers of China, which segments should be subcontracted and how to implement outsourcing successfully is more important than whether it should be adopted. Through abundant investigation and research into DFSTW, the author analyzes its situation of source restrictions, development strategy, production operations and production outsourcing, studies the whole actualizing course and several key problems of outsourcing. In the text, the author designs a course model of outsourcing consisting of four main phases such as decision preparation, outsourcing objects determination, contractor selection, projects management, and inquires into the key procedures and operating modes of each phase. Meantime, the author probes into the organization patterns and risk management mechanism, reviews the outsourcing achievements in the past and prospects the foreground of expanding outsourcing business of DFSTW in the future. This thesis will bring great significations in actualizing production outsourcing to some steamer plants and other similar big manufacturers in China.
