A Study And Development Of Knowledge Management System For Near Natural Forest Management

The model of forest management has changed to satisfy the demand of ecological environmental sound forest management. Transforming the existing plantation forest Management system into the multi-functions oriented and mixed/uneven-aged stand aimed Near Natural Forests Management (NNFM) should be put into practice. Study of NNFM knowledge engineering model (KEM) and development of a knowledge management system (KMS) is a modern and efficient way to spread and implement the advanced theory and practical techniques of NNFM on different levels of forestry operation and administration on the national scale. Analysing knowledge structure of NNFM and realizing informational knowledge management (KM) could be conducted by the study of KEM and KMS. These will accelerate the renovation of idea and technology for ecological forestry development.Our study introduces the CommonKADS methodology to construct a knowledge engineering system of NNFM. On this base, we use the idea of KM to choose a management strategy, construct system structure, and establish a table of solutions. Based on the results of knowledge models, we use techniques of network and database techniques to realize the knowledge management system of NNFM. The KMS compose by system management module, intercommunion module and analyse module. The module of system management is used to add, delete, modify the content of knowledge-base, the module of intercommunion carries out communication between user and system, the module of analyse assistants user to analyse application needs and decision-making.At last, descriptions of system application are given that the knowledge management system of NNFM can be used as an important reference for forestry informationization and the knowledge-turns, tools of Knowledge Engineering and Management supposed by this study would play more and more important role with the development of ecological forestry process.
