Since it bid for a political giant in early 1980s, Japan has been endeavoring to alter the socalled status "Economy Giant & Politics Dandiprat ",which embarrassed this nation for decades after World War II, so as to elevate its political status and become a real world power, including ecomomy and politics. As the most representative and influential international organization around the world, the United Nation has the great impact in conciliating the world affairs and tackleing the international activities.Through obtaining the permament member on the Security Council to realize its political power dream and exert its political influence ,which is Japan's persistent diplamatic strategy. To hold the permanent seat on the UN Security Council, Japan is always striving to participate the various activities within the United Nations,to push the reforms of United Nations and develop the international relations with the members of United Nations. However, there still has been a big barrier and challenge for it. Whether Japan's dream could come true or not depends on its own conditions, the relations with the powers around the world, as well as the attitudes of the UN members, especially the attitudes of Asian nations. Besides, some X-factors which are not controlled under Japan itself are involved. The present thesis illustrates the advantages and disadvantages of Japan bidding for the permanent seat on the UN Security Council through introducing some background related to Japan's bid and quoting its uncountable activities for the bid. The present thesis attempts to analyse and predict the prospects of Japan's application for the UN permanent seat.Another practical problem lies ahead that how China, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, will be faced with Japan's bid for the permanent seat. There is no perfect choice for China to handle Japan's bid for the UN Security Council permanent seat. Apart from its own interests of nation, China is expected to cope with this sensitive affair from its global responsibilities as well as the whole progress of human beings. The present thesis consists of four parts. The first part analyse the background of Japan's bid for the permanent seat. The second part and main body elaborates on its contribution. Part Three sheds light on Japan's advantages and disadvantages. The last part provides tentative suggestions on China's next moves in the face of Japan's bid for Permament Seat on the UN Security Council.
