| The rural floating population is a special social floating group which appeared with the development of opening-up and reformation in China. Although it has propelled the industrialization and urbanization in our country, it has also caused many problems. The problem of political participation of the rural floating population is very important one. Studying this problem is very meaningful. Considering the definitions of political participation generally, a broader definition of political participation is more suitable for China's present situation. According to the economic, social and cultural environment the rural floating population is in and the historical and traditional influence it has experienced , the characteristics of the political participation of the rural floating population are regional disequilibrium, decentralization in expressing interests, the intensity in pursuing economic profits etc. These caused many problems such as marginal position in participation, lack of representative system, short of participation organization and discrimination and rejection by city society. The reasons for these problems are economic restriction, limitation and confinement of dual social system, hindrance of political system and subjective defection of incomplete self-organization of the rural floating population. Thus modifying relative laws, reforming household registration policy, setting up party brands and new work unions for floating population, making social and cultural environment better and improving the sense and skills of the political participation of the rural floating population are basic solutions for the problem of political participation of the rural floating population. With the gradual settlement of the problem of political , the social, economic and political reformation of our country, and the scientific and technological development, the political participation of the rural floating population will be completely improved and further developed.
