Status Analysis And Development Countermeasures Of Rice Production In Jiangxi Province

Jiangxi is one of the thirteen main food-producing provinces, with rice being its main crop. Not only being self-sufficient, it's one of two the provinces which keep handing in and exporting rice each year whether the harvest is good or poor. In the past fifty years, it has greatly contributed to the national food security. Rice production is one of the main components of the farmers' income, which accounts for one forth of the total income in Jiangxi province. Therefore, it's critical to further improve rice productivity, strengthen and optimize the rice industry in Jiangxi in order to guarantee the national food security, increase the fanner's income, and to solve the "three-agro" problems.This paper is divided into three parts. The rice production, consumption and trade at home and abroad are summarized in detail in the first part. Then, the condition of rice production of Jiangxi province is particularly analyzed through a lot of data in the six aspects of the rice planting area, the tendency of the yield per unit and the overall output, the comparison of rice production level in Jiangxi, the zonal distribution of rice production, the quality of rice and the latest development of hybrid rice. Five problems of rice production in Jiangxi are brought forward: 1.The production scale can't fit for the market of the economy globalization; 2.The variety of rice which has excellent quality and international competing power is so few that it can't compete with other countries; 3.The scale of the processing corporation is so small, the stratification so low, the variety so single that the capability to promote the development of rice production is weak; 4.The reform of food circulation system hangs behind; the system of production, trade and management can not adapt to the market globalization; 5.The weak supporting policy, the poor agriculturalinfrastructure influence the competing power of rice production in Jiangxi in some extent. Finally, based on the analysis, the development countermeasures are put forward: 1 .Energetically p ropelling the management of rice industry; 2 .Stressing to exploit excellent quality rice, promoting the rice quality overall, broadening the usage of rice, strengthening the marketing competing force of Jiangxi rice; 3.Reinforcing to support the market-leader corporation, developing profound rice process; 4.Enhancing the scientific research of rice industry and completing the task of the integration and generalization of technology, reconstructing the traditional industry with high and new-technology, reinforcing the development potential of rice production; 5.Accommodating the new situation of WTO, reforming the current agricultural management system; 6. Strengthening the protection and construction of cultivated land and fundamental farmland, enhancing the ability of sustainable development of rice production.
