Study On The Forming Mechanism Of Huludao Metropolitan Area

Using theories and methods of urban geography,urban planning,urban ecology,urbanadministration,urban sociology and so on,using the concept,the connotation ,thelimitation ,forming course of metropolitan area from foreign scholars for reference,adoptingqualitative analysis and quantitive analysis,the author studied the forming mechanism ofHuludao--- the city-city integration metropolitan area.By analyzing Huludao metropolitanarea as a case the author aims to advance the research of city-city integration metropolitanarea in China. By examining Huludao metropolitan area interior integration course,by analyzingobstacle factors of Huludao metropolitan area interior integration course and correlativeimpetuses of advancing Huludao metropolitan area interior integration course,by limitatingHuludao metropolitan area using qualitative analysis and quantitive analysis,after thinkingevolving history,current structure and development trend of Huludao metropolitan areaspatial structure,the author obtained the conclusion that Huludao coast,belt shape,groupmetropolitan area has formed with the support of modern traffic and communicationtechnology.Because West Liaoning is a backward region compared with parts in LiaonigProvince,the two central cities and peripheral towns develop by their own forces,threegroups of two cities have integrated in many aspects of urban functions with high level,eachgroup plays a specific role,cooperates with other groups,and the connections among threegroups are getting more and more frequent.The coast peripheral towns of the two cities aredeveloping non-agriculture economy by private enterprises,agricultural industrialization,commerce,resource development and process and so on.The outer-directed degree ofeconomy is constantly improved.The population of most of peripheral coast towns increasedduring the decade between 1990 and 2000.In addition to this,the above towns arestrengthening connections with the two central cities and other regions.Compared with thecoast towns most towns lying to the west of the Jingshen expressway and Qinshen passengerspecial line have less connection with the two central cities and non-agriculture economy isbackward experiencing negative population increase from 1990 to 2000.With regard to thespacial expansion of Huludao metropolitan area, planning force,market force,thedevelopment desire from the civic government and the district government,the impetusesfrom private enterprises and the attractive environment attraction led to it.However,after theanalysis,the author found the space expansion impetuses of Huludao metropolitan area arenot sufficient which got the civic government not to miss any development opportunity andmade Huludao space strategy disordered with too many parks.At the same time the attractionof the two central cities was not obvious which show the two cities have a small radiationscope and a rather limited capability of absorbing the surplus labor force from their peripherytowns.At last the advancing pace and the advancing quality of Huludao metropolitan areaintegration depend on the institution of the coordination mechanism between the two centralcities as well as Huludao and its adjacent city---Jinzhou.
