The industrial allocation plays a very important role in the development of regionaleconomy. To know the allocation accurately and exactly can help people easily understandthe development and diffusion of industrial economy and other correlative information. Someresearches before about industrial allocation usually based on expert experience, largegeo-cell, qualitative analysis, and industrial data itself, correspondingly there is a lack ofrepeated, small geo-cell, quantitative analysis and industrial data with its spatial information. Aimed at reducing the shortage of the researches before, this paper analyzes theindustrial allocation in Northeast China based on the technique of GIS. Therefore the researchis a positivism and quantitative analysis, from the view of data mining. The method used in this research combined the traditional statistics method and spatialclustering method together, emphasized the importance of counties' spatial location andspatial contact in the allocation of regional industry. Not only feature data but also spatialinformation was used in the analysis, which enhanced the scientific and practicablecharacteristics of the paper. In addition, the method is more objective and can be repeated byusing a great deal of data in analysis. It also provides a data foundation for other relatedresearches. As far as the issue itself is concerned, we put the attention at the period of 1990s, duringwhich the industrial allocation changed sharply in Northeast China. By using the new methodabove, the paper analyses the industrial data in 1992 and 2001, in which year the data weremuch lower than others. Then the paper expatiates the characters of industrial allocation in2001 and the changes from 1992 to 2001 in Northeast China, also gives the expiation aboutelements that influence the allocation. In conclusion, the paper used a new method to study anew issue, from data mining view to objectively analyze industrial allocation in NortheastChina.
