Ours is an age distinguished by its information led by media. In the information age the media have become an important access to knowledge,running neck to neck with schools as the"second classroom". As civil servants, the police need to have access to various media for information. The media have greatly changed the way they live ,work and think. For the self-development of the police and the public security job itself, the police's media literacy is very important. While they acquire knowledge through media to enrich and develop themselves, they are subject to the impact of the negative information inevitably. Under such circumstances, police have to handle these by evelating their media literacy. Besides, current network crime, intelligent crime and high-tech crime pose a grim challange to police. In order to ensure people's security, police must have a clear mind on the media's essence and effect, and its influence on masses and crime. Good media literacy not only elevates the ability of applying media and resisting adverse effect, but sets up correct world outlook, values and modern communication concept as well to achieve man's all-around development. For the self-development of the police and the public security job itself,, it is imperative that elevate their media literacy through education. Therefore, the research on the education of police's media literacy should be taken into consideration.Based on the theoretical concepts and academic achievements of communications and management theory, the article attempts to study the education of the police's media literacy by theoretical analysis, standard research, empirical research and reference to indirect experiences. This can be of much benefit to relevant research and helps police organs to carry out the education of the police media literacy.The thesis consists of introduction, body and conclusion.The introduction part focuses on significance of the research, literature view at home and abroad, research methodology, highlight innovation of the research.The body part consists of four parts. In the first part, the article conducts a theoretical analysis on some basic questions such as the connotation of police media literacy and the article tries to design the contents of the education of the police's media quality including general education of police's media quality and education of media quality for police at different levels.Then comes to a conclusion that police media literacy has three functions: transmission, elevation and service. In the end, the article, connecting with the current practice in police work, points out that the education of police media literacy should have objectivity principle, integrity principle, efficiency principle, unity and diversity principle. In the second part, the article demonstrates the increasing influence of media on police from the aspects of the development of information society, digitalization police service and the elevation of police literacy and then arrives at a conclusion that elevation of police media literacy is imperative. In the third part, the article analyses the current situation of police media literacy, points out that current police media literacy still has some faults in terms of media, media quality and the ability of acquiring media data, transferring information and analysing and judging media. The reasons for these can be concluded as police's self-quality and the lack of media literacy education. In the fourth part, the article attempts to construct the implementing path from four perspectives,"enhancement from the leadership","building of the training system","exerting of the inactivity of the police"and"making full use of community resources".The conclusion part focuses on summing up the whole article and further points out that public security organs must put the improvement of the police media literacy on the agenda and take scientific and effective measures on it. In the information society, police's media education which is suited for the police self-development and public security job itself should be conducted effectively.
