A geographical name is a language phenomenon which composes an important part of language vocabulary. It is also the product of human cognitive activities, which accumulates ways of thinking as well as psychological characteristics of human beings. Furthermore, it is a special cultural phenomenon. As geographical names represent the development and changes in history and culture, enormous cultural connotations can be found behind their language forms. As one of the four municipalities of Chongqing, historical and cultural city, its long history and rich cultural heritage, a vast, their names are also rich cultural connotation and distinctive language features.From the perspective of cultural linguistics comprehensive study of geographical names in Chongqing City, Chongqing, trying to analyze the characteristics of names of languages, and explore their culture and history reflect the geographical and cultural characteristics.
