Along with the rapid spread of urbanization and increasing the scale of development, governments at all levels are making greater efforts to urban management and construction. However, the growing proportion of minority people in the society poses great threat to urban minority religious work of all levels of governments, and is becoming a basic ingredient of our central task concerning the nationalities.China is a multi-ethnic country, in which each individual nationality has its own beliefs. Since the founding of new China, the party and the government has paid much attention to dealing with different religious beliefs for variant nationalities. In the process of constructing socialist harmonious society, the work of urban ethnic minorities and religions greatly concerns the relationship between the party and the popular masses, concerns with promoting socialist material meanwhile spiritual civilization concerns with maintaining the unity of nationalities and the stability of the society.This paper selects the topic of urban minority religious work, in which I systematically generalize the theoretical foundation and realistic significance of such work, as well as a case study of the Muslim region in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia. I fully demonstrate the history, the manners and customs of Hui nationality, and I also present an overview of the mosques in that region and also the endeavors made to guarantee the planned development of ethnic work. This study seeks to provide a comprehensive guide for all levels of governments in solving religious and national problem, and to improve and consolidate the policies and regimes of religious beliefs of urban ethnic minorities.
