The police face more and more big pressure nowadays, and the phenomenon of the police job burnout is also more and more prominent under the pressure, which will seriously influences police image, law enforcement and even causes some mistakes in enforcing law. So it is the important measure to intervene police job burnout for constructing modern police. There are a lot of methods and approaches to intervene police job burnout presently. The Self—efficacy intervention will bring an important influence on the job burnout. This paper researches the characteristics and relations through investigating the total performance and differences between the police job burnout and the professional efficacy, and meanwhile it analyses thoroughly the elements affecting police job burnout, especially the potential influence of the self--efficacy on the police job burnout, and then some counterplans and suggestions are thrown out to relieve the police job burnout so as to improve the law enforcement and management.The method of questionnaire in the study was used to research the correlations between job—burnout and self—efficacy among 1500 policemen in Henan Province according to the local practical situation. The results are discovered as follows:l.The degree of the job burnout among Henan police is pretty serious. The relative performances are that below:the degree of the emotional exhaustion is a bit higher, the one of the dehumanization is a little lower, and the index of personal accomplishment is from medium to a bit higher.2.The index of self—efficacy arranges from medium to a little higher in Henan police.3.Three dimensions of job burnout exist distinct differences on the ages and police ranks, and the differences about the emotional exhaustion and dehumanization are very obvious on the police types, and there is no deference on the personal accomplishment. The educational background and work extra hours affect a little on the three dimensions.4.The distinct differences about self--efficacy exists on the different ages, but it does not differ obviously on the police type and police rank, and the educational background and work overtime do not react distinctly with each other.5.There are some significant correlation between each of the three dimensions and the self—efficacy.6.The self—efficacy and work overtime play a significant predictive role on three dimensions. Work overtime acts most greatly on it in the analysis of the emotional exhaustion regression, and while in the analysis of dehumanization regression, each element affects a bit. The self—efficacy has a most important role on the predicting the reduction of the personal accomplishment.
