Study On Relationship Between Port's Development And Regional Economic Development

There is always a common rule during the thriving and development of nearly all port cities in the world: port prospers city, and port flourishes together with city. Port could not only promote the economical development of the city it owed to, but also bring along the economical development of areas about and hinterlands. So, there lies tight relationship between a port and its locality. Hence it draws great consideration to deal with relationships between ports and cities, and ports and areas.This dissertation discusses relationship between port's development and regional economic improvement, which port's layout improves regional economy ultimately and regional economy how to drive port development. Relationship between port and region is extension of relationship between port and city. Competition between port cities and competition between ports are intensive gradually, competition between ports no longer depend on their facilities and material only. Port's transportation is not independence of city but depend on the economic development in city to increase the competition ability of the port. Meanwhile, the area is fully utilizing the advantage of the port to impel its economic growth too.This dissertation probes into dynamic characteristic of the modern port function changes and functional connection between port and region which reflected from this at first, then introduce the interaction of the port and regional economy. After making determine the nature appraisal to port and regional economy, choose DEA method quantitative appraisal contribution of port to regional economy. Utilize DEA to appraise the validity of the port and urban economy separately. On this basis, divide the port city into 4 kinds and announced different relationship between port and city. Then through make new production function with throughput variable of the structure further analyses some port cities finally, explain the significance which port's contribution to urban economy. At the end of the article, several measures were put forward to make port, city and hinterland developing in harmony.
