Study On The Stability Of The Frontier Region Of Northwest China From The International Perspective

The Northwest frontier of China situated in the hinterland of Eurasia, and it is an important part of so called the strong point of "World Island" in the traditional theory of Geopolitics. The special status of it in geopolitics makes it an strategic point among great powers' dispute from of old. As a vital strategic security barrier of China, the stability of northwest frontier would not only influence the security and stability of China but also closely related to the stability of Central Asia and even the whole Asia.This paper tries to analyze the geopolitical status of the northwest frontier of China in the Eurasian landmass from the international perspective, and then construe all of the international factors that would affect the stability of this area. Thus concluded that the security strategy of the U.S., Russia, and India would affect the stability of the northwest frontier of China, and the key international factor lies in the turbulence of the Central Asian countries. Further more, the ultranationalism expanded greatly after the Cold War, and consequently activated the minority separatists in the area of the Northwest frontier of China, which brought instability to this area. Therefore, based on the international factors, positive defense against external negative influence must be taken to guarantee the stability of the northwest frontier of China. To be specific, firstly, the good relations between Central Asian countries and China's northwest frontier area must be further developed, and the great influence of SCO(ShangHai Cooperation Organization) must be strengthened;secondly, the current policy on religion and nationality must be implemented seriously, and firm effort should be made to strike ultranationalism, big power's interference and infiltration must be guard against;thirdly, the culture of Chinese characteristics must be fulfilled gradually, and the distinct culture identity between Chinese culture and neighboring countries should be realized by the minority in the northwest frontier area, what's more, the negative effect of external culture should be guard against, thereby maintain the lasting stability and durable peace of the northwest frontier of China,...
