In the course of developing a harmonious socialist society, the police are shouldering great political and social responsibilities, which set forth new demands on policemen's morality. Colleges and universities for policemen aim at cultivating quality professionals (pre-service education) and promoting in-service policemen, and the achievement and quality of moral education will directly influence the morality of policemen as a whole. In previous practices, methods for moral education were characteristic of colleges and universities for policemen and could meet objectives for moral education. In the present period of social transformation, however, moral education for policemen have been challenging by the dilemma of society orientation and individuality orientation, and previous practices are no longer suitable for their lack of being scientific, their out-of-date objectives, their lagging behind times and lack of being artistic.Beginning with these problems in methods for moral education in colleges and universities for policemen, and reflecting principles and objectives for moral education, this study presents analyses of these problems, in view of providing new ideas and interpretations to the moral education. It further suggests reconstructing methods of moral education in colleges and universities for policemen to promote and perfect the morality of policemen.This study consists of three parts.In the first part, the writer conducted a survey and summed up problems in moral education in colleges and universities for policemen. Disadvantages in the present methods of moral education for policemen include simplification of methods, one-way transfer of information, staticness of forms, enclosure of procedure. These problems directly result in unilateral emphases on positive examples, cultivation of commonness, and neglect of individuality of learners, absence of emotional experience, and deviation from real life in moral education for policemen.The second part covers analyses of the above-mentioned problems. The writer expounds the significance of moral education, regarding it as the prime content and an important means to ensuring the quality of learners.
