Public servant is acting as an important role in the society, who takes the responsibility in public administration, economic leverage and public services. The public servant appraisal is highly related with the public servant team build-up and administration efficiency, which is widely focused by countries and our society. In China, the government has succeeded in establishing the framework of the public servant appraisal system. Compared with some advanced experiences and methodologies of some developed countries, however, we can find that there is some defects still existed in our country's appraisal system for public servant.The objective of writing this thesis is to research the method of performance appraisal for the public servant from the view of human resource management in public sector.First, the author summarized the basic theories of performance appraisal, then, used comparison method, reviewing the appraisal history of Chinese ancient officer and foreign civil servant. The third part made an account on content of Chinese public servant appraisal system nowadays, and had a systematic study on problem of Chinese public servant assessment system. At the same time, the author used the academic and practical achievement of modern-company appraisal method for reference, combined the actuality of our country's appraisal system for public servant, probed into the performance appraisal method for public servant and proposed the feasible practice of reconstructing the performance appraisal system for public servant. In the end of the thesis, the author put forward some countermeasures to the possible problems emerged in practice.I hope this study is a reference to the research of performance appraisal for public servant.
