Study Of NATO's East-expansion And That Of Affection After The Cold War

The east-expansion of NATO means NATO is going to bring those countries into its own organization, which include leagued commonwealth of pre-Soviet and original socialist countries in mid-east Europe. The reason of the choice of NATO as the research object is that east-expansion of NATO is not only a main content about NATO's foreign strategy and change of system in 1990s, and that also an important aim of the development of NATO in the future. It is not only connected with the existence of NATO in the new state, but also with the rebuilding and construction of European strategy pattern after the cold war, which is influencing European countries and even the international society.The article is composed of three parts. The first part analyses the background and process of east-expansion of NATO after the cold war. The second part analyses the reason and strategy purpose of east-expansion. The third part analyses the problem and influence of east-expansion of NATO. The article uses the theory of geopolitics, interdependence theory, and political economics, and analyses international power framework, interaction mode between individuals in the international politics, and the strategy about geopolitics of the powers during the course of east-expansion of NATO through the method of contrast, induction, quantifying and qualifying.The conclusions is that the east-expansion of NATO is the reflection of the contrast,change and imbalance of international power after the cold war, and also is the struggle of the rights, benefit and duty between the powers. Fundamentally, east-expansion of NATO shows the American strategy purpose to control the earth. The nature of A-R contradiction and that between Europe and USA around the east-expansion of NATO is the contradiction between"one polar"and"multi-power". And it's the continuity and development of the trend of multi-polar of the world pattern in Europe, and also the struggle of the Europe, which is to keep the main leading or to form the pattern of the multi-polar. The future of the east-expansion of NATO is not only determined by the adjust of the strategy of its own, by the adjust and interaction of such great powers as USA, Europe, Russia, and China, and also by the trend of the current international strategy environment.
