The Taiwan question is one of the biggest challenges that the two sides across the Taiwan Strait have to address in the 21st century. So far, the authorities and people on the both sides have considerable divergences with regard to the bilateral relations and national reunification and independence. Accordingly, the academic circles have not yet come up with a convincing view and there are few forward-looking ideas and strategies to resolve the dilemma. This paper presents a detailed description of the history and predicts the political future of party politics in the Taiwan region, , and analyzes the social and psychological factors that affect Taiwan's party politics as well as its development trend within the framework of constructivism theories The paper also puts forward our strategic choices to resolve the Taiwan question on the basis of the general strategy of peaceful reunification and the political principle of "one country, two systems".The development of the party politics and the appeal of independence in the Taiwan region has its unique background in the view of large framework of political science and regional context. They also give birth to possibilities for theoretical analysis. Meanwhile, relevant theories can be employed to predict the political forms to be taken by the parties and the trends of national reunification and independence. It is predictable that there will appear a political mode of a two-party system in the Taiwan region, and the appeal for independence will become quiet in appearance. It is reasonable to say that the interaction between the two sides of the Strait will become more frequent, and topics and levels of bilateral communication will be more advanced and the mainland will take greater initiatives. On the basis of this overview, our Taiwan strategy can be established on the basis of constructivism theories; we can use practical strategies and design an identity which is acceptable to the people on both sides of the Straits—the meaning of one China—on the precondition of having a full knowledge of Taiwan political rules and people's requirements; then we can strive to promote and improve this concept until one China becomes the common aspiration of the people both in Taiwan and mainland. Then the two sides can both become major players in a common effort to promote the process of national reunification.
