An Analysis Of Chinese Women's Participation In Politics And Factors Affecting It

Women's emancipation is an important yardstick of social progress of humanity, and women's participation in politics is a reflection of high-level advancement of it. In China today, women's participation in politics is not only indispensable for social sustainable development but also crucial for the building of political democracy, and it plays a key role in the realization of harmonious political life. With the rapid economic development and continuous improvement of political civilization, the political participation of Chinese women has become a hotspot of theoretical study, as a practical issue of major importance. The author firstly defines women's participation, introduces the achievements and the problems in the political participation of Chinese women, and then analyses the factors that affect it, with a view to finding out some measures to improve it.This paper consists of four parts.The first part introduces the background of study on women's participation in politics. Based on its history, the author defines women's political participation as the participation of the women masses in national political life and in the management of social and public affairs, mainly including democratic participation and sharing of power. Analyzing further from knowing, discussing politics, and participating in politics and being in power, the author sets up a standard system to measure it. The second part talks about the historical progress achieved in women's political participation in China and compares it with that in other countries around the world. The comparison shows that there is a big gap in between.The third part analyses the problems in Chinese women's participation in politics and factors that affect it.
