The Constructive Analysis Of The Development Of The Relationship Between China And ASEAN

Today is a fast-developing era which integrates in the area. If we want to meet the trend of current era, we must participate in the integrated construction of the area actively, and promote the development of East Asia together. Seen from the present situation, it is ASEAN that has played a leading role in the development of the integration of East Asia, and China, as the biggest developing countries of East Asia, also generates an important impact on integration in East Asia. Therefore, the development of China and relation of ASEAN will influence the integrated process of East Asia directly.The relation of China and ASEAN experiences two periods: the cold war period and the post-cold war period. And the development degree of the relations of both sides is very different within these two periods. On the initial stage of establishing in ASEAN, they confront each other on the influence of the bipolar structure of the America and Soviet Union, both sides build the other side the identity as "enemy". Under cognition of such an identity of each other, it is very difficult to develop good relation t between both sides. In later stage after cold war, with the subsiding of China's ideology factor of foreign policy, China has adjusted its own identity and made a reservation, when both sides object to regional hegemonism together strategically, which has offered a platform for mutual exchange. However, the communication at this time is still very limited. Generally speaking, during cold war, because of the influence of the international environment and identity between each other, it has formed certain obstacles to the communication of both sides.After the cold war, the bipolar structure that the America and Soviet Union confront each other is disintegrated, and the hostile culture between two camps that the cold war causes is thereupon disintegrated too. The ideology factor that influences among country drops to some extent, which has offered favorable external condition for adjusting the relation between the countries. According to the changed international situation, China has identified its role as the regional big country that orientates herself within the system and shoulders the responsibility, and has promoted the development of this area actively by her own practical activities. At the same time, China has accepted the relevant norms inside ASEAN through social studies. These norms not merely have function of restraining, build, but also play a role in constructing China's new identity at the same time, in this way China together ASEAN have some common grounds in the aspects of safeguarding the regional stability, non-interference of internal affairs of other states, cooperation to advance regional integration. Under these influence, both sides regard the other side as a "friendly cooperative partner", promoting the integration of this area through joint efforts.With the foundation of China and relation of ASEAN "friendly cooperative partner", both sides have launched cooperating in each field such as economy, the politics, security, society fruitfully, thus opened up new era of development of relation of both sides.
