On The Moral Construction Of Elite Group In The Social Transformation Of China

"Elite" is a traditional political and sociological concept, used to refer to the most outstanding groups of society. They constitute the ruling class. Although the number of elite groups is small, they have enormous energy. They are in the central position of the whole social system in operation. Their thinking and behavior directly affects the development of society. While social development is inseparable from the elite groups, and on the other hand, lacking moral qualities of the elite groups may also become obstacles of the social development. So, the moral of elite groups have more social concern and expectations, and have been taken as an example of social moral practice.When entering the period of social transition, China's social structure experienced major changes. The elite groups also increased from Singularity to multiculturalism, and have a more profound impact to the political, social, economic and cultural development. Due to the various negative factors of social transition, China's current elite group's immoralities are quite serious, and caused great harm to the social, political, economic and cultural development. Therefore, the current strengthening of the elite group's moral construction relates to the socialist market economic development, the development of socialist democratic politics and the development of socialist spiritual civilization.This paper describes the general theory of elite groups firstly. Then summarize the characteristics, functions and the main contents of moral construction on the basis of describing its importance. Meanwhile, providing in-depth analysis to the problem of immoralities, and give some countermeasures and suggestions about how to strengthen the current elite group's moral construction.
