Owing to the inequality of the sexes in historical and realisticcondition, women are still in the weaker position. As Engels pointedout, the extent of women's liberation is the natural measure of awidespread liberation in any community. In present world, women'spolitical participation is considered as an important aspect to improvewomen's situation, and as an important symbol to measure onenation's society development and civilization and progress, and alsobecomes the significant contents in the development of internationalsociety. Paying more attention on women and improving the woman'ssocial status are important and indispensable parts in the process ofbuilding the socialist comparatively well-off society and theharmonious society.The women in management grass-roots of urban resident'scommittee are regarded as the object of the study in this thesis. Theextent and scope of women's political participation are studied by itssociological analysis and some effective measures to improve theirability to political participation are provided. The basic hypothesisfollowed as: the gender difference from cultural force construction isthe principle reason to cause the inequality of the sexes and theobstacle of women's political participation. The gender difference isregarded as independent variable, and the obstacle of women'spolitical participation as dependent variable.This paper can be divided into five chapters.In chapter 1: It is stated that some overview of the gender theoriesand its relative principles applied in the thesis. In chapter 2: the mainidea and research methods are stated, which includes the researchhypothesis, the definition of variables, the sources of information,sample states, the methods of analysis and so on. In chapter 3: by sociological analysis of statistical data from investigation, the mainresults are states, that is, there exists some self obstacles, the obstaclesof mechanism and cognitive disorder to prevent women's politicalparticipation in urban resident's committee. In chapter 4: the analysisin cause results in four spheres of political, economic, cultural andsocial contact. In chapter 5: some effective measures to improve theirability to political participation are provided.
