Taking a cultural change aspect, this dissertation focusing on Pancun village, studies the changes of the village administration structures between the periods of village autonomy and villagers'autonomy. This study combines fieldwork, historical document research and questionaire together to find that before the presence of the state power, Pancun village had had the traditional village autonomy system, the formation of which had been affected by various facts such as geographical conditions, social life and ethnic culture.This village autonomy system had played an active role in maintaining the normal production and life order as well as the security of the village social culture net of the village. With the presence of the state power, it was of great necessity to integrate the traditional village autonomy system with modern state power. Considering the present village administration of Dayaoshan, it is held out in this dissertation that within the villagers'autonomy system, setting the village autonomy system is of great help not only in furthering the integration of the traditional village autonomy system and modern state power. But also in pacing up the development of the villagers'autonomy in ethnic regions. This study is meaningful realistically as well as theoretically in perfecting relevant theories on villagers'autonomy and the construction of villagers'autonomy system in ethnic regions.
