Police is a special group of people in the society. This occupation is highly dangerous and intensive, which determines the mental health problem of police is more serious than that of common social members. However, there is a lack of systematic research on the mental health of police and the relative factors in China. This research is for the purpose of discussing the mental health condition as well as the relative factors of Chongqing criminal police. The research is based on the way of questionnaire, through the Symptom Check List 90 (SCL-90), the Occupational Stress Inventory Revised Edition (OSI-R) and the Generic Quality of Life Inventory-74 (GQOLI-74), has carried on the investigation on the mental health of 227 criminal police, and the relative factors. It also uses data analysis method, such as t examining, F examining, and takes the sex, the age, the length of being a policeman, the marital status and so on as the variable, to make a variance analysis on criminal police mental health, as well as the relative factors. The whole data statistical work is based on SAS8.0. At this foundation, ways of improving the criminal police mental health has been pointed out.The following conclusion must happen in this research:1. In this research, the mental health of these 227 criminal police is lower than the national common people. Compared with the national examples, Chongqing criminal police gain higher scores in the SCL-90 factors than the national examples. Moreover, all factors are obviously different.2. The difference of male and female criminal police on the SCL-90 did not show any evidence. The criminal polices in different age, get lower scores while they are older. The mental health condition of young criminal police is lower than the older criminal police. The longer the working length, the lower the score, which shows the criminal police with shorter working length has more serious problems with the mental health.3. The scores of the factors in the occupational role questionnaire and personal strain questionnaire of OSI-R for criminal police are higher than the common example. The scores of the factors in the personal resources questionnaire are obviously lower than the common example. This indicates the criminal police have higher working pressure, more intensive and has less personal resource.4. Criminal police in Chongqing get more scores of the subjective than the objective part about the living quality. This indicates they do not accept the object living qualities. The married police have higher living quality than the unmarried ones. The criminal police with better mental health have better living quality.
