Objective: To study the statement of mental health in basic training and find out the risk factors to maladjustment in armed police force, in order to provide a basis for mental health education and psychological intervention.Method: Adopted a phased survey research methods(two stages). Stage one: All participants were investigated with PSSG,Gm,SCS,SSQ, CSQ, and general data questionnaire. Stage two: All participants were investigated with SCL-90 again after 10-12weeks (before the new recruits' basic training). Results: (1) SCL-90 scores in the end of basic training were significant decreased. (2)Recruits from one-child families were observed lower depress and anxiety than those from more than two children families in the stage one. had higher score in body symptoms in stage one and obsession, others in stage 2 than north source of recruits. High school group recruits had higher score in phobia in stage 1 and body symptoms, paranoid, psychoticism, others and the total score than that on the junior recruits. Age≤18 years old group stage1 in phobia factor scores, significantly higher than the group age≥19 years old. Age and two stage scores of SCL-90 were divided into correlated analysis, the results showed that stage1: hostility and phobia, stage2:interpersonal sensitivity, hostility, phobia, paranoid and the age was significantly negatively correlated.Differences to the two stage of SCL-90 to be dependent variable, SCL-90 total score in stagel to be a covariate variable, covariance analysis showed that only-child group in the body symptoms and the other factor significantly lower than non-only-child group; Age≥19 years old recruits had higher interpersonal sensitivity scores than the age≤18 years of age group. The high school group recruits in obsession, phobia, psychoticism changes in the two stage significantly lower than junior high school group; Paranoid and other factors high school group was significantly lower than junior high school; No area, the identity before joining the army, city or rural constituencies source and ethnicity differences were noted for changes in SCL-90 over time. Three groups that had girlfriend, had general heterosexual peers and no heterosexual friends recruits the two stage scores of SCL-90 had significant difference, further comparison showed that the group had general heterosexual peers had lower SCL-90 scores compared with the other two groups, the differences were significant.(2) General maladjustment, self-concealment, coping styles: self-blame, fantasy, the passive and rationalize and psychosocial stress survey for groups: life events, negative emotional experience, negative coping and stress scores with the SCL-90 scores were significantly positively correlated; Social support, coping styles: solve problems, psychosocial stress survey for groups: positive emotional experience, positive response scores with the SCL-90 scores were significantly negatively correlated; In stage1 higher total score of SCL-90 group's general maladjustment, psychosocial stress survey for groups: life events, negative emotional experience, the negative response, the total stress, self-concealment, coping styles:self-blame, fantasy, the passive and rationalization scores significantly higher than the lower group; higher group's psychosocial stress survey for groups: positive response, and social support: subjective, use the support, total score, coping styles: solve the problem, seek help scores significantly lower than lower group; In stage2 higher total score of SCL-90 group's universal maladjustment, community groups psychological stress: life events, negative emotional experience, the negative response, the total stress, self-concealment, coping styles: self-blame, fantasy, the passive and rationalization scores significantly higher than the lower group; higher group's social support: support for the use, support of the total score, coping styles: solve the problem, seek help scores significantly lower than lower group. (4) Make the SCL-90 total scores of recruits in two stage be the dependent variable Y (1=total score<160,2=total score≥160), the self-concealment etc. 18 factors be the independent variables, taken Backward: LR method logistic regression analysis. Entered the stage1 regression equation variables were: X1 (Gm), X2 (life events), X3 (blame), X4 (fantasy), the equation: Y=-6.598+0.217 X1+0.129 X2 +0.137 X3+0.230 X4, the chi-square=209.558, P=0.000. Therefore, logistic regression equation was statistically significant, the overall rate of correct forecast was 86.1%. Entered stage2 regression equation variables were: X1 (Gm), X2 (negative emotional experience). X3 (blame), the equation: Y=-5.477+0.118 X1+0.123 X2+0.184 X3, chi-square= 63.171, P= 0.000, the logistic regression equation was statistically significant, the overall rate of correctly predict was 93.1%.Conclusion: 1. High level of education, older, from one-child families and from south area recruits have demonstrated lower ability to adapt to the basic training and higher levels of psychological pathology. 2. Before joining the army with female friends showed lower level of psychological pathology and higher level of adaptation than others. 3. The level of general maladjustment, self-concealment, social support, coping style and psycho-social stress of recruits in the process of training are closely related with the adaptation and the level of psychological pathology.
