Reflections And Strategies About Rural "Parentless" Children's Education

With the speeding pace of Chinese industrialization and urbanization, tons of peasants have swarmed into cities to be new labor force. Although the parents have settled down in cities, they don't have the abilities to bring their kid and support them. So they have to leave their children behind in the country and ask others to take care of them. As a result, the phenomenon of families living separately appears. Recently, the problem of these "parentless" children is getting worse and worse, which arouses many experts' concerns from home and abroad. This essay bases on the research into "parentless" children in Qionglai to dig more important social problems from it. It is hoped that from this research, we can find out the solutions to deal with these children's education.This essay contains four chapters. At the beginning, it surveys the recent three years' basic conditions of the "parentless" children in Qionglai. According to it, this first chapter emphasizes in analyzing these children's situation, including life, education, psychological problems and dropouts. These issues are becoming more serious day by day, which has been a social problem that can't be ignored.The second chapter focuses on the discussion about the results from the education problems of these "parentless" children. From the saying "Studying is useless", this part concerns the analysis that the "parentless" children have the thoughts of inferiority and more vanities, which causes the difficulty of education. Then this chapter talks about the unrewarded education form grandparents, close relatives and single parents. Besides, the big problem that school education, family education, and social education don't work together, and the Chinese social "Three Longs" Problem (agriculture, country and peasants) have also contributed to the educational difficulty for these children.The third chapter analyses the social problems caused by the "parentless" children. One hand, the ideas, value creterias and cultural qualities of the children's protectors influence their lack of family education. On the other hand, these children can also affect the protectors' heath and psychology state or cause many other problems to them. The latter influence is often neglected. Therefore, we need to discuss the two aspects at the same time. Because of the long-term lack of their parents, these children have losed the banlance of their education. It has bad effects on the improvements of our country's civil qualities. It is also a threat to the constructions of social stability and harmony.Chapter four is the conclusion. The education problem of the "parentless" children is not just an education problem. If we let it be, it will become a fatal social problem. It's a systematic project to give education to the specialized people. It needs the work from families, neighborhood, schools and society. So that there can be a network of social cares, supporting system and regulations. So the purpose of these researches about the duties of families, neighborhoods,and schools, and the strategies is to make all the power together. And it can care, focus and deal with the education problem of these "parentless" children in order to get rid of it at last. In this way, the peasant workers can go to work without worrying about their kids. Besides this, the qualities of our future labor force can be improved to keep the economy of our country going.
