Study On Development And Strategy Of Principle Of Placing Hope On Taiwan People

The principle of placing hope on Taiwan people is a very important part of the total policy on Taiwan of Communist Party of China which results from several generation of leadership's effort to resolve the Taiwan issue. From the original principle of placing hope on Taiwan authority to the current principle of placing hope on Taiwan people, the policy on Taiwan becomes more and more completed. Especially in 2005, the President of People's Republic of China and the General- Secretary of the Communist Party of China Hu Jintao set forth four-point guidelines on cross-Straits relations. The four-point guidelines have been now known as "four points of Hu Jintao". The "four points of Hu Jintao" has become basic guideline on resolving the Taiwan issue in new period, and according to the "four points of Hu Jintao" the principle of placing hope on Taiwan people has been raised to a important strategic level, and it paves the way to "peaceful reunification, one country and two system".The principle of placing hope on Taiwan people made by the Communist Party of China is well-based upon solid facts and theories. The theoretical basis of the principle of placing hope on Taiwan people is Marxism fundamental belief that the history is driven by the people. The people from Taiwan and the mainland share the same race and root , have the same history and culture, and having a strong feeling of brotherhood, the Taiwan compatriots is deeply connected to mainland by the root. Achieving national reunification is one of the three greatest missions of the Communist Party of China in the new century .At the same time the unification is long-expected desire of all the Chinese people and accords with the fundamental benefit of all the Chinese people including the Taiwan compatriots.Due to some historical factors, Taiwan and mainland have already been in separation condition over half a century. It is such a long period of time that many Taiwan compatriots have formed different point of views and even some misunderstandings about mainland of China and had complicated feelings for reunification. In 2004, Chen Shui-bian from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) was re-elected as the leader in Taiwan. Although he re-won the election by getting 50.11% of votes, he cannot deny the fact that his previous term as leader in Taiwan was a total mess: few political achievements were made, the despotic rule of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) became more obvious in very short time, and the society of Taiwan is deeply divided.The new variety of situation urge us to better understand the principle of placing hope on Taiwan people, more importantly to better understand the complicated feelings of Taiwan people formed under special historical circumstances. And then, we can grasp the main opinion and morale trend of Taiwan people and begin a new round of campaign for the hearts and minds of the Taiwan people to make the principle of placing hope on Taiwan people more effectively. This is a very challenging and worthy research project facing both scholars and those who actually work on Taiwan issue.The article tries to focus on the principle of placing hope on Taiwan people which is part of the total policy on Taiwan of the Communist Party of China. So the analysis starts form the development and importance of the principle, and then the article pays special attention to the complicated feelings of Taiwan people, and indicates the importance of understanding the Taiwan people. The article puts forward some suggestions that based upon the belief that Taiwan's people are trustworthy. The author firmly believes that we should carry on the principle of placing hope on Taiwan people despite existing difficulties and challenges and winning the hearts and mind of Taiwan people will contribute to the peaceful reunification of China.
