China is a country with a large population of overseas Chinese. At the beginning of the 20th century, there were7,000,000 overseas Chinese all over the world, today there are over 30,000,000 overseas Chinese throughout the world. So overseas Chinese affairs occupy a very important posotion in Chinese government's affairs. At the beginning of the founding of People's Republic of China, our party and government laid emphasis on overseas Chinese affairs, set up special organizations, formulated a series of policies, opening up a new era for the work in overseas Chinese affairs. During the Cultural Revolution, the overseas Chinese policies were left aside, the institutions were dossolved and the overseas Chinese affairs were cast away. After the Cultural Revolution, with the restoring of the order and the opening to the outside world, overseas Chinese affairs step onto the right track.This thesis glaces in retrospect at the evolution and development of Chinese Communist Party's policies concerning overseas Chinese, discusses the deep connotationa and practical significance of Chinese Communist Party's policies concerning overseas Chinese from the angle of economy, politics, culture and education, probes into the function of the policies concerning overseas Chinese under the new situations, analyses the experiences and lessons of Chinese Communist Party's policies concerning overseas Chinese after the founding of People's Republic of China, puts forward the problems and directions of the policies concerning overseas Chinese, giving reference to strengthen and improve the policies concerning overseas Chinese for our party and government.
