These Be Represented

In the classes of Chinese social, the working class is a special one, their fate changing as the changing of Chinese history.The changing fate of the Chinese working class also was reflected in the mass media's"representation"of the worker's image. The worker's image in the different history period represented by the mass media's was a minor that reflect the worker's image in this period: it gives a expression to the worker's image chosen by the values of the main culture in that time and at the same time it also expressed the worker's image in the real society. Therefore, the description and analysis of the worker's image in mess media is not only valuable to the understanding of the development of the working class's social status, but also have positive effects to understand the culture tradition, social value and the code of conducts in the society.This dissertation is based on the background of research of "worker images from the media". From the social changing point of view, by collecting the reports from Chinese Worker ( 1950―1959 ) ,Worker's Daily ( 1986―1991 ) and A View of Labour Unions(1991―2007) regarding worker gender since china has been established till now, the report analyzes the different worker images at different time periods.From the reports I can make a conclusion that at different period ,the appearance characteristics of the worker image represented in the mass media were different, but there was no big differences among the narrate type. During the time before the reform of state owned enterprises the main worker images was a group of common working classes, which were strong young man worked in manufacturing industry, mining industry and building trade. During the deep period of the reform of state owned enterprises, the main worker image were the middle aged"lay off"workers, who were strive continuously to make new progress. During the time after the reform of state owned enterprises, the"lay off"had been faded out from the mass media, the manager classes had become the main image of the"representation". Although there are differences among the worker image in different period, the narrate types had not changed a lot. The main narrate types were: the glory type, the bear hardships and hard work type, and the self-denying type and so on. These words"simple and honest","faithful and uncomplaining"and"devoted"were often used to describe the working class. These highly typed worker image were not totally conform to the worker's real life, these give a expression to the worker's image chosen by the values of the main culture. So we can concluded that because the limitations of themselves, the working class can not express themselves effectively.
