On The Sustainable Development Of Population Migration In The Reservoir Area Of Guangxi Yantan Hydropower Plant

Yantan Hydropower Plant which located on the Shore of Hongshui River was build in 1984. In March 1992, Yantan Hydropower Plant began to store water. The normal water level is 223m and reservoir acreage is 112.5km~2. With the water level rise, 116087 acres of land which included 62094 acres of farmland was submerged, it influenced 88 villages 905 villager teams of 26 townships. The 26 townships come from Hechi City s Dahua Yao Autonomous County, Bama Yao Autonomous County, Donglan County, Nandan County and Tiane County. 43176 people were relocated and 77347 people needed to be rehoused because of the plant s building.Since the migration work ended in 1992, Yantan reservoir area still have some issues need to solve, such as migration difficult to develop production, migration management weakly, migration quality lower, migration living in poverty, and so on. These issues affect reservoir area's society and economy development.To solution the issue of Yantan Hydropower Plant s migrations, it seems from the key of solving issue is insisting the principia which from the perspective of the sustainable development, the government work out relevant policies which can develop reservoir area s society, economy and zoology. The specific methods have production exploiture, policy guidance, training, education and long-term support, etc. After that, migration will develop production and out of poverty step by step. As a result, migrations can common development with the society by insisting the sustainable development.
