In the new century, Sino-Latin American relations have been moving forward swiftly. It's an important breakthrough of China's diplomatic. The development of Sino-Latin American relations not only has a profound historical basis, but also has realistic mutual needs.Because of the special relations between Latin America and America ,China's recent gestures to strengthen cooperation with Latin American nations have aroused the attention of the U.S. American people express different ideas and attitude about this, and the theory of 'China is the opportunity of Latin- America' and the theory of ' China threats the backyard of the United States' have supporters respectively. Although cognitive varies, there is no fundamental difference in the countermeasure. The U.S. government is closely following the recent progress in Sino-Latin American relations, and actively promoting the communication with China on Latin American issues in case of occurring adverse situation against the United States. At the same time, the U.S. government is re-examining the value of its 'backyard' and is starting to repair the relations with Latin America.It's significant to develop Sino-Latin American relations, and it's an important component of China's multilateral diplomacy strategy. However, because the United States has powerful traditional influence in Latin America, China must correctly understand and assess the American factor when it develops the relations with Latin America, and then work out the response measures. This article holds that, China should actively seek to communicate with the U.S. when it further expands and deepens the friendly relations with Latin America.
