Beijing Olympic Games had already closed successfully and the international community spoke highly of the Olympic Games.International Olympic Committee president Rogge said the Beijing Olympic Games "truly unparalleled".Our country gave a full range of Olympic intellectual property protection using huge human,material and financial resources.It ensured Beijing Olympic Games running healthily and orderly and obtained the expected return.The successful experience of protecting intellectual property rights during the Beijing Olympic Games had been concerned by Western countries and large multinational companies that considered "China has taken separate and different protective measures to Olympic-related products." However,the infringement of Olympic intellectual property rights was not completely eliminated.The phenomenon of direct or hidden infringement of Olympic intellectual property rights occurs from time to time. There are some lessons needed to be summed up and improved.The protection of Olympic intellectual property rights is a long-term job and will not end with the cessation of the Olympic Games,so it needs to be improved and well-organized after the Olympic Games. It also can give a particularly important reference for the protection of intellectual property in other major sports events.Based on the introduction of the concept and characteristics of the Olympic intellectual property rights,the paper analysis the importance of protection of Olympic intellectual property rights.It also sums up the achievements and shortcomings and concludes the successful experience and measures of protection of Olympic intellectual property rights during the Beijing Olympic Games in order to improve the protection of intellectual property rights in the major domestic sporting events.
