The Survival Conditon And The Path Selection Of The Left-behind Elderly In Rural Areas

With the constant acceleration of China's reform and opening-up process and the gradually prospering of the urban economy,a large number of the young rural labours have transfered to cities and towns since the 1980s,and the team will be larger and larger.Because the limitation of the dualistic urban-rural social structure and the elder's living habits,a lot of old people choose to stay in rural areas,that is the "left-behind elderly" phenomenon.Under the dual background of the social transformation and the aging population,the problems of the "left-behind elderly" are becoming more and more obvious.These problems will not only affect most of peasants' life,but also affect the harmony and stability of the whole rural society.So the study on this problem has great and urgent realistic significance.If we do not know the basic circumstance of the "left-behind elderly" in the rural areas,we cannot make decision efficiently for this problem.In order to understand the circustance better,to research and solve problems,the author investigated the "left-behind elderly" of the HC town in Shaoyang,Hunan based on analyzing domestic existing research findings,using the main reasearch approaches-questionaire investigation and case interview.This article researches the situation of the "left-behind elderly" from the angle of the economic support,farm work,medical treatment and psychological comfort,and put forward the ideas and strategies to solve the problems from the perspective of government management,according to analyzing the reasons systematiclly.
