The study of pension demands of the left-behind elderly from rural areas promises the improvement of life quality of the left-behind elderly from rural areas and the solution of rural pension demands. It is an important part of the maintenance of social stability, the construction of new countryside and a harmonious socialist society, and also of great importance for the maintenance of social justice. The pension demands of the left-behind elderly from my hometown are studied based on the field research in South Jiangxi Revolutionary Base. The impact factors of pension demands of the left-behind elderly from rural areas of South Jiangxi Revolutionary Base are explored by combining empirical analyses with interpretive analyses.After reviewing relevant studies on pension demands of the left-behind elderly from rural areas, specific performance of pension demands of the left-behind elderly from rural areas of South Jiangxi Revolutionary Base are summed up by the combining Maslow’s Needs Theory with field interview. Four impact factors, namely, basic information, family factors, financial factors, and other factors, are summed up based on literature review and field interview. The questionnaire on pension demands of the left-behind elderly from rural areas of South Jiangxi Revolutionary Base and their impact factors are designed.284 valid questionnaires are obtained and their validity and reliability are examined thereafter. Sample descriptive statistics and then stepwise regression method are applied to analysis the impact factors of each pension demand. Conclusion has it that age, burden of work, days children stays at home per year, and education level positively correlated with survival demand; safety demand negatively correlated with physical condition and monthly income. The times of calling per month, holding time per calling, the number of children as migrant worker, and education level positively correlated with social demand of the left-behind elderly from rural areas. The number of grandchildren they need to look after, the times of calling per month, and the physical condition of the left-behind elderly from rural areas positively correlated with respect demand. Education level positively correlated with self-actualization demand, while age goes the other way. Finally the conclusions are illuminated and the suggestions of safeguard countermeasure for the left-behind elderly from rural areas of South Jiangxi Revolutionary Base are put forward.
