The rural left behind old are left in rural areas which is a common social phenomenon,because a large number of young rural labors flock to the cities, and they do not have conditionslive with the old. At present, our country is in a developing period of social transition stage and aging population trend. The problems of rural left behind old are not only related to the ruralleft behind old and their children working in urban areas but also to rural development and social harmony and stability. Therefore, the research on rural left behind old is of important practical significance in realizing socialist modernization and creating a harmonious society.On the foundation of revie wing related research of domestic and foreign literature, Theauthor makes an on-the-spot survey about problems of the rural left behind old in Sheng Livillage, Yuan Nan town, Yuan Cheng District, He Yuan city and Wei Ping village, Pu QianTown and Xin Tang village, Yuan Xi Road and Shang Ba village and Xia Ba villages, LiuCheng town, Dong Yuan county by using methods of questionnaire survey and case interview.This paper analyzes the problems of rural left behind old from the following three aspects:declining function of family supporting for the old, uncompleted community function andlimited support, serious shortage of government support. Based on the above case analysis,the author puts forward the concrete countermeasures to the problems of rural left-behind oldas follows: Strengthening the government’s leading function, enhancing the social function ofthe community, continuing to maintain the family’s basic role, actively exploring theadvantages of the old.
