Agriculture, rural area and farmers have always been the most important issues of social development in China. The core of the"three nongs"issue is that of the farmers. And the central issue of the farmers is that of the improvement of moral quality and scientific quality. Rural youth are the main body of farmers and the major force of new villages construction. The moral level of the rural youth relates to the moral construction of socialist new villages. However, in the time of social transformation, rural youth face some urgent problems in moral cultivation, family and social ethics values, etc. By study the moral education of rural youth in this period of transition, we hope to improve the entire quality of rural youth and make their to become a group of new farmers having knowledge, understanding techniques and able to do business, and consequently leading all the farmers to set up new advanced ideology and excellent moral trend, so as to provide powerful spiritual and ideological guarantee.This study take the rural youth as its subject and the transitional China as its background. It does research on the moral education of rural youth based on the former studies and making use of theories of political education, sociology and other disciplines. The study methods include documenting, analysis and case study. Firstly, it disclose the status of moral standard of today's rural youth and points out existing problems and analyse the reasons for that. Secondly, it gives an account of the basic conditions facing the existing problems. Thirdly, it provides the priciples and contents of moral education of the young people in the transitional period. Lastly, it points out the practical route of moral education of rural youth in the social transformation period.
