This thesis, based on the theory of European integration, attempts to analyze the constraints on the transition countries of Central and Eastern Europe with the primary use of literature analysis, historical researches and other methods. Through an analysis of Central and Eastern European countries'transformation results, from the end of cold war to the accession of EU, from the accession of EU to 2008 economic crisis and up to now, a conclusion can be drawn during the three periods about how constraints change its domestic system. As an external factor, the accession of Central and Eastern European countries, makes an external influence on Central and Eastern European countries which has led to the system changes when transition, at least has an effect on the overall goal setting and strategic adjustment of the transition of the Central and Eastern European countries. The global economic crisis is said to be a test of the Central and Eastern European transition pattern. Moreover, due to a special geopolitical factor, Central and Eastern European countries are also influenced by the following three countries, namely, Europe, Russia, and the United States. Finally, making clear of the gains and losses, successes and failures of Central and Eastern European transition mode can provide some experience and lessons for the ongoing transformation of our country. In the first chapter, terms such as "Central and Eastern Europe", "social transformation" and "constraints" are respectively defined and the idea is proposed that Central and Eastern European countries in transition is not only influenced by the inter-specific binding mechanism of the European Union, but also influenced by Russia and the U.S. geopolitical factor. The second chapter, titled as "Central and Eastern Europe transition process and its results" illustrates both the transformation results before or after the accession of Eastern European countries, taking Poland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary as examples to analyze the role of constraints in these countries. The tile of the third chapter is "the constraints approaches to Eastern European countries in transition " which proceeds correspondently first with an analysis towards the special geopolitical position of Central and Eastern Europe and its being as a place competed by powerful countries, then the concept "Washington Consensus" and "European Consensus" as well as the binding norms set by the EU, recommendations and programs, and financial assistance provided by EU, prompting the system changes of the new member states. The fourth chapter which discusses "The constraints on Central and Eastern Europe since the financial crisis" mainly analyzes the transmission mechanism of financial crisis; EU's strengthening financial supervision and the impact on Central and Eastern European countries. The fifth chapter of this thesis focuses on the topic "The assessment of constraints on Central and Eastern European countries' transformation". The present author holds the view that the transformation of Central and Eastern Europe is continuing and the EU will definitely affect its transformation process for its changes. Furthermore, the model of "European" transition in Central and Eastern Europe is only taken as a mandatory adaptation for the EU membership, a short-term strategic considerations rather than a long-term strategy for the domestic requirements.
