The priority of harmonious education development is to achieve the sex equality in education. But research shows that there are full of inequality in many of elementary education text books, the traditional Confucianism-"man is superior to woman" is in the text book in a disguised way, making a negative effect on the health sex role of the students. This paper will research on problems of sex and role in the current Jiangsu elementary Chinese text books.This paper includes four parts. The first part introduces the research origin, research overview from home and abroad, research content and method. The second part analyzes the character role in the text books. First to get statistic data by researching on the whole text and the story-like text with diagram, second to analyze the problems on the sex and role existed in the text books. The third part analyzes the sex trend in the text books, discussing the cause of the trend of its negative effect. The fourth part puts forward the suggestion of sex equality realization in Chinese text books based on the awareness of the magnificence of sex equality in text books. The final part will make a conclusion.After studies, we find that there are some inequalities in current Jiangsu elementary Chinese text books, such as uneven-distributed gender proportion, dual-inequality on female role, poor era consciousness of the characters, absolute dominance of domestic characters, serious gender finalization in occupation, gender and role stereotype, etc.
