A Study On Current Teenagers' Values In Our Country In Post-modern Contexts

Based on the fist-hand data from the survey of the central committee of the youth league on research of teenagers and combining proper theory arrangement about post-modern culture and adolescents values, this study analyzes the empirical data on the development condition of current teenagers, then it tries to interpret their values in view of postmodernism.This article draws a conclusion that the general condition of contemporary juveniles is positive, healthy and progressive, and their values show the following characteristics: strong sense of social participation, diversifed interpersonal relations, labeled consuming entertainment and leading consuming fashion, household chores normalized on objective act; Strong love and identity for our motherland, multi-direction on their life belief; Enjoying fast-paced life style and potential risks can not be ignored; moral qualities declined and ethical behavior becoming more and more utilitarian on subjective attitude.Through further analysis of these features, this study profoundly discusses the implied meaning under these values, such as there are existing polarized value orientation, maladjustment between value judgments and value acts, identity crisis sprouting and so on in teenagers. The objective of this study is to call the educational workers'attention to the problems of teenagers in the course of their growth, and provides the reference to advance study on this field for academia.From the point of postmodern, their values include some post-modern features, such as over-chasing fame and wealth which induces secularized values; Over-consuming attitude and having obvious motive for current fashion; Fan culture spreading and becoming mass media's passionate adherents; Internet—virtual society and young teenagers'self-Identity; Evade elevation—faith crisis prevailing and moral sensibility lacking. The factors are comprehensive which influence postmodern values in contemporary teenagers, and this article hold opinion that these problems of contemporary juveniles should attribute to the joint work of specific character in their adolescence, family and society, then environmental factor in modern society especially.To solve these problems concerning teenagers in post-modern context, this paper proposed some constructive suggestions and we should look on both sides of postmodernism. We should pay great attention to its social impact, including the destructive and constructive results. On the one hand, we should overcome the negative consequences of post-modern whose values lack of lofty ideal and pursuit of pleasure excessively, then handle the problem of unified values and centralized guiding ideology correctly; On the other hand, we should adopt a positive, open and tolerate attitude, admit unified values and advocate tolerating spirit; we should handle the relationship between unitary and multielement, and enforce identity on our motherland; Additionally, we need emphasis model education's contemporary and humanity. In this regard, we should hold an understanding, developmental, tolerant attitude and trust them, while this article furthers constructive suggestions to guarantee teenagers'values developing more positive and healthy.
