| With the development of socioeconomy and the escalation of people's living standard, the scale of the higher education in China becomes bigger, its coverage becomes wider and the entire education levels of people are improved greatly. However, the education is excessively regarded as a tool by the imbalance between material and spirit in the society, the knowledge-based and the technocratism value together with the effect of politics, economy and other external factors, which tends to focus on how to help students to expand their knowledge, improve their abilities, strengthen their competition in survival, especially under the circumstances of intensifying social competition and high employment pressure. Education, in the process of exploring"How to survive", ignores the consideration of"What we survive for", so that undergraduates who grow up in such an environment seldom consider the meaning and goal of life. Due to the lack of goals in life and the ability to deal with frustrations, they may have psychological problems, even head for self-destruction and at last turn into tragedies, when they encounter frustrations and strikes. Thus, confronted with the tendency of regarding education as a tool, it is extremely important to enhance the life education of undergraduates in the age of utilitarianism and competition emphasis.This paper consists of five parts. Part one is the discussion on the current situation of the study of life education at home and abroad. Part two is the outline of life, education and life education, life ideology in Chinese and western cultures. Part three is the discussion on the necessity of life education from three perspectives, that is, social environment, college requirements and psychological characteristics of undergraduates. Part four is the main content of undergraduate life education in the perspective of college. Part five is the conclusion of approaches of life education for contemporary undergraduates. Based on the full understanding of the meaning of life, this paper attempts to make contemporary undergraduates concern about their spiritual life, enhance the quality of life, thereby get the happiness of life. |
