The teaching and research organization in ordinary high school is a professionally grass-root organization of subjects'teaching in which the teachers grow, develop and interact with each other. It plays an important role in raising teachers'professional ability, sharing teaching experience, exchanging the ideas on teaching and research achievements, and ensuring the quality of school education. The quality of teaching and research organization directly impacts the school's teaching. However, due to the multiple factors, the teaching and research organization in ordinary high school didn't work effectively.With further development of the new curriculum reform, the subject teachers are facing many problems in teaching that urgently need to be solved, so it had brought more and more attention. As a professional organization, the teaching and research organization should not only meet the act as a transmitter, but also enhance its organizational structure and functional properties. In today's education, it urgently needs to strengthen its organizational construction, enrich the content teaching and research activities, and further enhance the quality of teaching and research activities.The entry point of this study was the function of teaching and research organization in ordinary high school. Based on the analysis of the function it plays in reality and the expecting function it should play under the background of the school reform, this study would point out the problems and causes of teaching and research organization in its work and try to offer some proposals on how to strengthen its construction.This study employed a survey method. It selected an ordinary high school in Binzhou City, Shandong Province as a case study, which conducted a questionnaire survey and interviews on some teachers of this school. Through field surveys, interviews and access to literature, the study was launched on the current operation of teaching and research organization from six aspects: teachers'understanding on the function of teaching and research organization; activities of teaching and research organization; teaching and research organization and teachers'professional development; teachers'expect on head of teaching and research group; teachers'expect on subject group of teaching and research.Through the study, some problems were found of teaching and research organization in ordinary high school: the function of teaching and research organization is weakened; work efficiency is low; the work of teaching and research is showy; scientific research is weak; the routine work is more than professional guidance in teaching and research; the strained relationship between teachers weakened the power of teaching and research; it didn't attach importance to the teachers'worries and so on.In the end, the research made recommendations to strengthen the construction of teaching and research organization in ordinary high school from six aspect: it should clarify and coordinate the relationship between teaching and research organization, grade department and lesson prepared group; the development of teaching and research organization should be based on the subject research; the construction of teaching and research organization should be human-oriented and pay attention to the impact of interpersonal relationship; it should also attach importance to the system innovation and advance with time; the work of teaching and research organization should be practical to solve the teaching problems; teaching and research organization should make full use of team's advantage to promote teachers'professional development.
