With the development of the society, the division of labour in society becomes increasingly close, people exchanges become gradually frequent, daily affairs are also increasing. Practical writing, as an important tool to handle public and private affairs, the significance of it is recognized by teachers and students of vocational schools nowadays. However, the teaching of practical writing in vocational schools remains inefficient. "The teachers are working very hard, and the students are learning quite tiredly", this phenomenon is widely acknowledged by both parties of the teaching of practical writing in vocational schools. In order to improve teaching effectiveness of practical writing, numerous teachers from vocational schools have made certain beneficial exploration and research during their teaching practice for years; they have explored a lot of feasible teaching methods, and these explorations have promoted the reform and innovation of the teaching of practical writing in vocational schools to some extent, which has provided beneficial reference for improving the teaching effectiveness of practical writing. In this process, some teachers have been aware of the significance of Communicative Teaching Theory in the teaching innovation of practical writing, and turned to research on how to combine the teaching practice of practical writing and Communicative Teaching Theory. But in general, the study in this field is still at the initial stage, existing research results are relatively few.This thesis aims to research extensively on the teachers and students of vocational schools, based on a study of Communicative Teaching Theory. On the base of the survey, it also aims to analyze and investigate the communicative teaching of practical writing in vocational schools and seek the problems in teaching. Besides, from the perspective of Communicative Teaching Theory, it aims to probe into the root of the problems, and explore the appropriate and scientific strategies to improve the teaching effectiveness of practical writing, which can offer advisory opinions for the teachers of practical writing in vocational schools, and promote the teaching reform and innovation of practical writing.This thesis consists of four chapters, including the introduction. The introduction part introduces the purposes for this study and the status quo of research on Communicative Teaching at home and abroad. Chapter One is a brief generalization of the basic principles of Communicative Teaching, including the definition of Communicative Teaching, the analysis of communication types in Communicative Teaching, and the statement of the features of Communicative Teaching, which attempts to make the readers distinctly understand the Communicative Teaching Theory. From surveys and interviews about teachers, students related to practical writing in vocational schools, Chapter Two probes into the communicative teaching problems in practical writing from the three aspects of teacher's subject, student's subject and teaching object, makes a rational analysis of the research results, explores the reasons for those unsolved problems remaining for a long time from the perspective of Communicative Teaching Theory, and then reveal the significance for vocational schools to carry out Communicative Teaching in practical writing from three angles:improving the teaching effectiveness of practical writing, the requirements of practical writing and teaching reform in vocational schools. On the basis of the theoretical foundation in Chapter One and the investigation in Chapter Two, Chapter three researches on how to apply Communicative Teaching into the teaching of practical writing in vocational schools from preparation, enforcement and assessment, proposes some feasible teaching strategies and puts forward some views on some noticeable problems during the implementation process of these teaching strategies.
