Study On Current School Choice Situation Of Compulsory Education In Jinan

School Choice is one of the major problems of China's compulsory education and it is also a common issue all over the world. Since the 1990s, the prevailing of School Choice of China's compulsory education has seriously affected educational fairness. School Choice means parents choose schools which have better improved facilities, excellent teaching staff and scientific teaching management by paying"School Choice Fees"for the purpose of providing their children with better educational opportunities and high-quality educational resources. It is always occurred when going to school for a higher degree and educational resources are unbalanced in the stage of compulsory education. The phenomenon of School Choice is growing in intensity and has become the focus which is widely concerned by the whole society. Therefore, it is necessary to deeply analyze the phenomenon, see through the essence, identify the reasons in origin and find the breakthrough points to solve the problems based on educational fairness. School Choice is not an occasional phenomenon. It is a necessity when educational resources can not satisfy people's growing material and cultural needs and it is the result of the development of knowledge-based economy. As the development of economy, the significant increase of population in Jinan and the expanding of education scale accordingly bring about new requirements for compulsory education in Jinan. This dissertation is going to explore the advantages and disadvantages of School Choice, its reasons and effective solutions by analyzing the School Choice phenomenon of compulsory education in Jinan. In this way, it is hoped that a balanced compulsory education can be developed and a harmonious development of education in the whole city can be promoted.This dissertation consists of five chapters. Chapter one is introduction. It introduces the origin, reviews at home and abroad, basic concept and scope of the study, the significance and purpose, and objective and methods of the research.Chapter two summarizes the current situation of School Choice. Chapter three analyzes reasons of compulsory education in Jinan. Chapter four taken measures and existing problems of compulsory education in Jinan.Chapter five suggests solutions to School Choice of compulsory education in Jinan.The innovative points of this research are as follows. It comprehensively and deeply analyzes the current situation, problems and reasons of compulsory education in Jinan and explores effective solutions to School Choice problems of compulsory education in Jinan from government, schools and social.
