The Evolution And Development Of Chinese Sports Film Culture

This study utilizes the document analysis method, interview method, comparative analysis and logic analysis to analyze the periodical evaluation and development of sports film culture in China. Observing and analyzing the different sports cultural values in Chinese sports film under different development stages of social and cultural environment, and the influence of the sports film culture construction and development taken by the social material and spiritual civilization. Meanwhile, by using the scientific analysis and summarization of the existing problem of the development of sports film in China and discussing the main factors which restrict the development of sports film culture, this study put forward the corresponding theoretical advice.With the reference and comprehensive utilization of the research content, PE history of China, movie history of China, China sports history and other relevant documents, this study divide the Chinese sports film culture evolution course into five stages: 1. the initial stage (1918-1948), sports film culture before liberation; 2. the rise stage of sports film culture (1949-1965), after the founding of the People's Republic of China. 3. the stagnation of the sports film during Cultural Revolution and the development of film culture of Hong Kong and Taiwan chivalrous-swordsman films (1966-1976); 4. the flourishing stage (1977-2000) in the period of reform and opening up of sports film culture; 5. the transition (2001-2010) of sports film culture in the new century. The changes of periodical evolution of Chinese sports film culture as well as the corresponding influence are both accompanied by different social sports cultural context. The positive development of sports film culture promotes the development of Chinese sports and the propaganda of sports culture in the world. The choice of Chinese sports movie cultural values is not unchangeable, it constantly changes along with the change of social environment. Each value choice of different period reflects a special need of the era. The value orientation of Chinese sports film culture also presents four stages of evolution: 1. before the liberation, the thinking of saving the country by sports; 2. after the founding, the "grand" national sports spirit; 3. new China, humanistic concern of sports; 4. the new century, the Olympic spirit.During the Cultural Revolution, the development of domestic sports movie was stagnating, while Hong Kong and Taiwan chivalrous-swordsman films were booming, and the martial arts movies with a representative actor Bruce lee, began to enter the international stage. Martial arts promoted the international popularizing of China sports film and made an effective propaganda to Chinese traditional culture and martial arts spirit.The main restricting factors of the development of Chinese sports film culture include: 1. the lack of self cognition of Chinese sports movie, 2. the lack of social identity of Chinese sports film culture, 3. the absence of exploitation of sports film culture resources and innovation of art form; 4. imbalance between the ideological content and entertaining of sports movie themes culture, 5. the lack of top movie star and director came into sports film creation.According to the research on the Chinese sports film culture, the study put forward the following suggestions of future development: 1. the movie industry in China should lay more emphasis on the development of sports film and solve the existing problems of sports film fundamentally. 2. Strengthen the multi-angle appearance of sports film culture in order to draw near the distance between the audience and athletes; 3. it is essential to use the experience of other countries for reference, to dig deep into Chinese sports culture resources, to innovate the diversification of Chinese sports film art, and to balance the relationship between special effects in movies and real movements. 4. Balance the relationship between China sports film entertaining and ideological content, and underline nature glamour. 5. Appeal to the top movie stars and famous director to take active action in the Chinese sports film creation, to devote star strength and social effect to the development of Chinese sports film culture.
