Compared with the schooling in single ethnic communities, it is more complicated in national minority mixing-up area. The students with different cultural backgrounds, different religious beliefs and different ethnic groups learn together which make the research becomes troublesome. It is the important manifestation of the balanced development in the school that the comparative study on students'development of different ethnic groups in multi-ethnic schools.We take the No.3 Menghai Middle School in XiShuangBanNa as an research case.There are the Dai, Hani, Lahu, Blang and Han students in the school.Research results show that the remarkable differences between ethnic groups in academic achievements, which are as follows:favorite subjects, the activeness of class participation classroom performance and expectations for the future. There are some deviations in scores, interest, attitude, purpose, enrollment and dropout rates, however, these terms don't constitute a significant statistical difference. For the interpersonal communication,the teachers have more interaction and interpersonal relationship with the other more active of the Dai, Han, by contrast, less interaction with the Hani, Lahu, Blang.For the ethical relationship, the teachers hurt students'national pride because of cultural differences.Besides,in student-student communication, the most prominent performance is national clique phenomenon. Namely, Dai students' clique and the mixed-up clique which makes up of Hani, Lahu, Blang and Han students. Also,among students of different nationalities, there are still issues of national bias. The reasons why the differences exist in the development situation of different national students are as follows:the differences of production lifestyle between different ethnic groups, and the historical and cultural factors also play a significant role, such as low rate of intermarriage between different groups and the dominant superiority brought by historical position. Also,the influence of family, community and society. Besides, there are various limitations in modern education system in multi-ethnic mixing-up area, such as the incline towards mainstream culture, problems with teaching management and the scarce faculty in the multi-ethnic school.The balanced development in the school is one important aspect of the basic education balanced development. The balance is not to deny features, but the rapid development of features. To improve the balanced development of the different ethnic groups in the school, measures must be taken as follows:enhancing teacher-student multicultural training quality, encouraging intermarry among ethnic groups, cancelling grade placement,making some changes on education system of single bound pattern in multi-national area, paying reasonable attention to ethnic differences and encouraging the development of diversity. What we need to do is not going to eliminate difference, but to encourage the rapid and diversification development of excellent national specialty.
