New qualified teachers are one of the special groups of teachers with its own features. It is very necessary to do effective entry guidance and support for new teachers. However, the traditional cultivating patterns of teachers'professional development have over-emphasized educational theory and paid much attention to educational principle and knowledge. As a result, it is difficult to adapt the situation in the initial period and hard to do very well in professional development for new teachers.It is long since Britain attended to the career training of the new qualified teachers. The British New Qualified Teacher Training and Induction Policy can be dated from the Second World War. This system was serving as a guide for the teaching practice and extensively used since later of 1970s in Britain. As the development of the further expanding to the career training of the new qualified teacher in 1990s, it has achieved great success.The primary purpose of Britain New Teacher Induction Policy is to combine teacher pre-training and post education, but it has been one of the most important factor on promoting teacher'professional development and career planning. With the development and improvement of teacher career education, it also has become a good link between teachers' pre-training and post-career practice.This policy contains various defined factors including the training and induction contents, measures, procedures and etc, which sets an example for our teacher education system. Through the profound analysis of the British New Qualified Teacher Training and Induction Policy,the author holds the purpose on providing some precious experience for our country on improving and perfecting the way of teacher professional development, setting up a systematic and scientific training and induction system to new teachers,and protecting them to march a great step in their teaching career.The paper consists of five sessions:Section one is the introduction that comprises of problem statement.literature review, the value and method of research, definitions of key concepts.Section two has a review of British New Qualified Teacher Training and Induction Policy, which analyzes the emerging background and development of policy and grasps the overall contents.Section three mainly describes the contents of the British New Qualified Teacher Training and Induction, including the standards for teacher during the training and induction period, the training and induction supporting and monitoring programs, the assessment system, and the quality assurance.Section four presents a analysis of the characteristics of the British New Qualified Teacher Training and Induction Policy. It includes the quality of the new qualified teachers'professional development improved, the training system connecting the pre-training and post education constructed, strong training quality insurance system, fair and effective training evaluation methods.Section five discusses the present status and problems existing in Chinese new teacher training and induction, and puts forward the experience that we can learn from British New Qualified Teacher Training and Induction Policy.
