With the rapid development of society, the thought of lifelong education has been confirmed and spreads out in all directions around the world. Intellectual ability that teachers got during their university lives is no more suitable to the requirement for teachers'professional development, so further education seems even more urgent. Martial arts as a part of fine traditional Chinese nation culture, shoulders an important responsibility for nurturing talents in universities and colleges in terms of handing down national spirit and developing excellent culture. Only get martial arts teachers in employment continuous further education and do they improve their specialized skills, they may do well in an educational undertaking of martial arts.On the base of teaching theory, Psychology, Pedagogy and management theory, as well as other relevant theories, using the way of index and data, questionnaire survey, mathematical statistics and logical induction,etc, regarding 40 teachers of 15 universities as the research subject, with investigated analysis of present situation of further education, and the result showed that:on the age structure, it mainly relies on young and middle-aged teachers; about academic credentials, it gives first place to a few undergraduates and more graduates; lecturers and associate professors constitute the majority; the number of teachers who have martial arts technical specialization and credentials is on the small side; not knowing much about the policy on further education; generally approving of the significance of carrying forward the spirit of martial arts culture and the nation; the main purpose of teachers joining further education in martial arts is to develop their capability in teaching and scientific research, to renew their professional knowledge and to upgrade the rank of martial arts technical referee qualification as well as that of teaching ability level; further education system in most universities and colleges lacks satisfaction; financial aid is not enough; in most cases, the training who have participated in further education through formal diploma courses informal courses chiefly include modern educational theory and method, ways of physical exercise scientific research, basic theory on martial arts; course content basically accords with martial arts teachers' demands and expectations; but although need develop lots of forms about further education, in order to deal with arduous teaching tasks and serious conflict between study and work, keep up with the TimesAccording to this case, propose counter measures:concept changing:change people's concepts of further education and strengthen the important status of further education; system construction:improve the existing further education system; hierarchical division:according to the ability and professional ranks titles; reform of content:change the thinking, broaden the martial arts resources; patterns broadening: provide various patterns and of further education channels; resources integration: make universities'joint efforts in building a system for further education; strengthen the ability of teachers:enhance the technical level; time assurance:positively adjust, guarantee the further education's time.
