Major identity is both a current state acceptable by university students and constantly developing mental process. Factors affected the shaping and developing of major identity are complicated and pluralistic. Recently as a crucial issue influencing students study of physical and professional ability progress, major identity has gradually attracted lots of attention of nationwide scholars. So far what we've had about major identity researches are mostly focused on undergraduate groups, while postgraduates are rare. Compared with undergraduates, postgraduates phase emphasizes students'professional study and growth more, here comes that major identity of postgraduates is worthy to be explored.Based on this, the research chooses five universities establishing up educational economy & management to investigate, including Fudan University, East China Normal University, Shanghai Normal University, East China University of Science and Technology and University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. We inspect major identity condition and development process of postgraduates majoring in educational economy & management by means of questionnaires and interviews, thoroughly analyze common factors having effects on major identity of this group, from the point of view of university & department management, we then put forward proposals of raising major identity level of postgraduates.According to the questionnaires and interviews, the research found that level of the major identity of postgraduates majoring in educational economy & management is supposed to be average or even below. It's not common that students identity with their majors completely. Meanwhile, the level of the major identity of postgraduates majoring in educational economy & management exists distinct discrepancies on grades, universities and family economics, specific details are as follows:junior postgraduates'level of major identity are remarkably lower than the first years and sophomores; the level of students from Fudan University are dramatically lower than other students from the four universities; the level of major identity of students those family are poor or well-off or rich are obviously lower than those poorer or general ones. By the depth analysis of the above problems, we found that factors affected the level of major identity of postgraduates majoring in educational economy & management are complicated and pluralistic, which including four respects as postgraduate study motive and the reason for choosing education economy & management; professional external statement; study atmosphere; important influence from other people.On this basis, from the view of professional construction and development of universities, the research gives corresponding suggestions to enhance the level of major identity of postgraduates majoring in educational economy & management, including strengthening professional propaganda & education, construction of major itself, and reinforcing employment guidance education.
