Major identity is the basis of students actively involved in professional learning and to engage industry associated with the major after graduation. In recent years, research on major identity gradually attracted widespread attention of domestic researchers, but studies have mostly focused on the major of education and nursing, less study for the major identity of tourism management students, especially for the major of undergraduate students as an important professional level is even scarcer.Based on this, the study chooses five universities establishing up tourism management to investigate, including A,B,C,D,E. We investigated the undergraduate students’ major identity of Tourism Management and its influencing factors through self–edited questionnaires and deep interviews. And then make recommendations to enhance tourism management undergraduates’ major identity level from the following aspects of the students, major, the society and industry.The current tourism management undergraduates’ major identity total score and three dimensions are higher than the average level, it indicates that the major identity of tourism management undergraduates is in the medium level. And tourism management undergraduates’ major identity and three dimensions’ recognition level exist significant differences in gender, grade, volunteer and school. From gender perspective, the level of the tourism management’s girls’ major identity, major awareness, major emotional and major conduct is higher than boys. From the perspective of grades, as graders improve, the level of students’ major identity is almost decreased, the overall trend of students’ major identity is that: sophomore> freshmen> junior> seniors, and present a different difference. Analysis on major awareness, the level of freshmen’s major awareness is higher than junior and senior, and present a significant difference; the level of sophomore’s major awareness is higher than junior and senior, and present a significant difference. Analysis on major emotion, the level of freshmen’s major emotion is higher than junior and senior, and present a significant difference; the level of sophomore’s major emotion is higher than junior and senior, and present a significant difference; Analysis on major conduct, the level of freshmen’s major conduct is higher than junior and senior, and present a significant difference; the level of sophomore’s major conduct is higher than junior and senior, and present a significant difference; From volunteer choice perspective, the major identity level of students choose volunteer by their own choice is higher than the students who are major sweep and the wishes of parents and others. From the school perspective, in the major identity and major awareness dimension aspect, major identity of both the overall trend is: E>D>C>B>A, and present different differences. In the aspect of major emotional dimension, The overall trend of the five institutions’ students’ major emotional identity is: E>D>C>B>A, and the level of major emotional identity of the students from E University is higher than the students from A University. And present a significant difference.By analyzing the results, the impact factors of tourism management undergraduates’ major identity include: personal factors, major factors, social factors and the industry factors. On this basis, this study proposes recommendations to enhance undergraduates’ major identity level : value the subjective adjustment of tourism management undergraduates; strengthen major construction and increase social supports.
